Creating Warehouse Transfers for Amazon FBA Inbound Shipments

Modified on Thu, 11 Jan at 4:40 PM

If you need to create a warehouse transfer for an Amazon FBA inbound shipment in sku.io, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, if the destination warehouse is an Amazon FBA warehouse, it's possible that the warehouse transfer originated outside of sku.io and needs to be imported. In the future, sku.io plans to allow for the initiation of FBA inbound shipments directly from Amazon FBA, but this feature is not currently fully supported.

To create a warehouse transfer for an Amazon FBA inbound shipment, start by selecting "FBA (Amazon)" as the "To Warehouse" in the Create Warehouse Transfer modal. You can then select an inbound shipment ID from the list, or view inbound shipments separately under Amazon → FBA → Inbound Shipments. In the future, you will also be able to create a warehouse transfer from the FBA → Inbound Shipments workflow.

When you save the warehouse transfer, sku.io will use the FBA inbound data to build the transfer. The data mapping is as follows:

Amazon → sku.io WarehouseTransfer:

  • ShipmentId → warehouse_transfer_number
  • ShipFromAddress (ignored)
  • DestinationFulfillmentCenterId (displayed for reference)
  • ShipmentStatus → status
  • SellerSKU (matched to determine product)

The warehouse transfer status is marked as "open" to indicate that it's in transit, and available inventory is deducted from the "from warehouse". The shipment status is determined by the QuantityReceived and QuantityShipped in FbaInboundShipmentItem. However, actual warehouse transfer receipts are created from AmazonFbaInventoryLedger where event_type = “Receipts”.

If a WarehouseTransferShipmentReceipt is created where the WarehouseTransferShipment does not exist, the WarehouseTransferShipment is created on the fly, since a shipment must have been shipped to have been received.

We hope this article helps you create warehouse transfers for Amazon FBA inbound shipments in sku.io.
