Bundles and Kits

The Virtual Bundle and Kit are similar product types since they are comprised of at least two items, but they vary on how the inventory movements are handled.

Virtual Bundle

The Virtual Bundle does not hold any stock however in the Sales Channels the potential bundle qty is available for sale as well as the individual components. The Bundle can be used for organization/reporting and associated with a sales channel product.

The bundle has to be created within sku.io as a 'Bundle type' and later mapped to the Sales Channel listing.

Bundles can be created from the Product list view and Add Products or via bulk import.

Kit

The Kit is similar in properties to a standard product, but it has a relationship with components. These can be assembled into a kit, or the kit can be disassembled into its parts. The main difference from a standard product is that a kit can't be purchased, it has to be assembled from available inventory items within a warehouse.

Review how to assemble and disassemble kits following this link.

The kit has to be created within sku.io as a 'Kit type' and later mapped to the Sales Channel listing.

Ensure the components in the file follow this format:

  • To update an existing Bundle/Kit, the file should contain column ‘component_skus’ and the components should be added as: sku1->3, sku2->1, sku3->2 (separated by commas if multiple components, followed by an arrow and the component qty)
  • To update from the component itself (standard item), the file should contain a column ‘component_of_sku’ and the bundle/kit sku should be added as:  kit1->3, kit2->1, bundle1->2 (separated by commas if multiple bundle/kits, followed by an arrow and the component qty)
